Community Statement: Incident in Leeds & Call for Unity

We are deeply saddened and outraged to report that earlier today, a young Sikh man was attacked while at work here in Leeds. During the assault, his dastaar (turban) was removed, and he sustained multiple injuries.
The police attended the scene, a formal statement has been taken, and the crime has been officially reported.
Our brother is originally from India, living away from his family, and working hard to build a future for himself. Following the incident, members of the local Sikh response team immediately stepped in to provide him with vital reassurance, care, and solidarity during this distressing time. The police have also been briefed on the recent spike in incidents and the deeply concerning reality that Sikhs are being targeted.
### A Urgent Call to Our Sangat
This is a time for absolute unity. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder and support one another through these difficult times.
 * Put Differences Aside: Regardless of any internal differences, we must remember that perpetrators of hate do not look at our internal debates&mdashthey see our visible identity. Anyone of us can be targeted.
 * Look Out for One Another: Check in on international students, workers, and vulnerable members of our community who may not have family nearby.
 * Stay Vigilant: Be aware of your surroundings, travel in groups where possible, and immediately report any suspicious behavior or hate incidents to the authorities and community response teams.
We will not allow fear to divide us. Let us stand resilient, unified, and strong.
Chardi Kala. Stay vigilant, and support each other.
